Experience

SEASTATES metocean information has been used to manage coastal risk, design offshore structures, provide weather downtime statistics and much more. Here you can browse a selection of projects that have benefited from our SEASTATES services.

Metocean data

Metocean data and statistics

When a developer, operator, manager or contractor does not have metocean data for decisions, a supplier needs to be found. Petrofac Facilities Management Ltd came to us for wave and current data and statistics for a specific site in UK waters.

Weather downtime

Vessel salvage in the Pacific Ocean

The 25,000 dwt container vessel Kea Trader was en route from Papeete in Tahiti to Noumea when it ran aground on the Durand Reef, off the island of Maré in the Loyalty Islands on 12 July 2017.

Design criteria

Coastal management PAR/OBCs

We worked with Arup to prepare outline business cases (Project Appraisal Reports) for four coastal management schemes across Wales on behalf of Welsh Government.

Weather downtime

Downtime information for cable routes

J-Power Systems Corporation (JPS), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., was contracted to supply and install a subsea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnector cable system between UK and Belgium.

Weather downtime

Downtime risk management

MPI Offshore owns and operates four purpose-built vessels which install wind turbines, foundation and transition pieces in NW Europe. To manage the risk posed by weather downtime, statistical predictions are used to understand the likelihood and magnitude of any delay.

Design criteria

Design criteria

To support the design and engineering requirements for the Beatrice offshore wind development, we provided a suite of metocean design and operational criteria.

Weather downtime

Rapid weather risk calculation

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier operates two versatile self-elevating, self-propelled jack-up installation vessels and eight purpose built service boats. Weather downtime is a recognised logistical and financial risk when planning or offering vessel services.

Consultancy

MAIB investigation support

Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) is an arm of the UK Department for Transport. The role of MAIB is to contribute to safety at sea by determining the causes and circumstances of marine accidents and working with others to reduce the likelihood of such accidents recurring in the future.

Weather downtime

Operational and route planning

Weather downtime risk is often carried by the contractor. So that Seajacks, an owner-operator of five self-propelled harsh environment installation vessels, can optimise operation planning, mitigate risk and offer best priced contracts, we provide them with key insights into the effect of weather on their planned operations.

Consultancy

Wave and tidal resource assessment

ABPmer was commissioned to provide specialist oceanographic advice to Skandia Team GBR, the British Sailing Team in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
