We worked with Arup to prepare outline business cases (Project Appraisal Reports) for four coastal management schemes across Wales on behalf of Welsh Government.
We defined the flood and/or erosion risk and considered the adequacy of existing structures. We then reviewed a long list of options to identify a preferred coastal risk management approach. ABPmer specialists undertook the coastal process assessments including new extremes analysis using the latest numerical wave and overtopping modelling using SEASTATES data to drive detailed local models.
The appraisals identified both coastal flood and erosion risk benefits and wider benefits such as amenity, community regeneration and biodiversity.
