J-Power Systems Corporation (JPS), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., was contracted to supply and install a subsea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnector cable system between UK and Belgium.
To properly plan the installation and associated works for any subsea cable, an understanding of metocean conditions along the cable route and landfall sites is needed.
We were commissioned by JPS to provide weather downtime information. To undertake the weather downtime analysis, we used a combination of data from our in-house SEASTATES wind and wave hindcast model, our UK Continental Shelf hydrodynamic model and high-resolution wave and hydrodynamic modelling of the near-shore areas of cable landfall sites.
Our weather downtime calculator provides robust statistical estimates to dramatically increase your understanding of project risk. Learn more about our weather downtime services.
