ABPmer was commissioned to provide specialist oceanographic advice to Skandia Team GBR, the British Sailing Team in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. ABPmer supported Skandia Team GBR’s medal hopefuls by providing tidal flow predictions to help maximise their performance during training and at the many sailing events held at the Weymouth Olympic venue.
We worked closely with the Skandia Team GBR coaches and athletes, including supporting Team GBR at regattas, such as the Skandia ‘Sail for Gold’ regatta in September 2009, an ISAF Sailing World Cup event where the team landed the largest medal haul of any nation participating.
Detailed quantitative information was provided to Team GBR during the London 2012 Olympics where the team won 5 medals; and the Paralympics where Team GBR topped the medal table with 1 gold and 1 bronze.
